At Tanger, we aim to create positive social and economic impact in line with our Mission, Vision, and Values through our environmental, social, and governance practices and programs, which, beginning with our 2024 report, we reference collectively as our "Impact Program."
Framework and reporting strategy
Guided by strong corporate governance, our sustainability and responsible business strategies are embedded into our business model. We focus on environmental and social issues material to Tanger, implementing responsible programs and actions which are rooted in our business strategy and informed by our stakeholders.
Since 2016, we have utilized the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and we began integrating disclosures from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB, now part of the International Sustainability Standards Board) in 2019 and aligning with the recommendations of the former Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in 2022. Beginning with our 2024 Impact Report, our reporting process is also guided by the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards (specifically IFRS S2, which consolidates the recommendations of TCFD). We have disclosed to the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) and CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) since 2020. In 2022, Tanger became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), committing to the adoption of sustainable and socially responsible policies, alignment with the Compact's Ten Principles, and reporting on implementation through the submission of an annual Communication on Progress.
